Another New York adventure… One of my IM buddies lived in NY for a time and told me that there was one thing that I had to do for my New York experience. Her exact instructions were as follows:
J:ok, do you like mandoo?
me: oh! mandoo bar? or bistro?
J:there is this really yummy mandoo place in k-town (where gammiok is, but on the opposite end)
yes!
me: I saw that place online and I almost started drooling!
J:mandoo bar. thing is…you have to get some kimchi mandoo (fried, not steamed) and take it to go on your way to the MET
me: oh I should write this down
J: the when you get to the met, you’ll be thirsty and something about those stairs under the sun make you wanna sit and eat and drink. i dunno why. it just does.
by this time, the mandoo will have cooled. you should sit near the steps (not on them cause you’ll get into trouble) and eat the mandoo cold. yes. cold. their kimchi mandoo is the only food (ever) i would say actually tastes better old and cold than fresh and hot.
i know it’s weird.
=)
Unfortunately, they didn’t have fried kimchi mandoo, so I got the steamed ones, but they were still delicious ^__^

She also told me her favorite Museum was the Met and after visiting I could see why, it was massive and so diverse in culture and just amazing. You have to go to fully understand.

We sat outside with our Korean drinks in hand (me with pear juice and I think Mark had the shik hae) and listened to the street music and ate our kimchi mandoo. I really felt like a new yorker for a moment.

I saw this at the airport and was immediately drawn to it. They made an area for pets to relieve themselves, how cool is that! Someday I will take Nabi with me somewhere, just to try it out ^__^

Also… If you’re ever at the Seattle Airport (Seatac) check out Dish D’lish. I never tried it because I thought it just looked like a standard cafeteria food, but I met a good friend of mine there for lunch before picking Mark up and she suggested that I try their soup. It was amazingly good! I wish I had my camera on me, and cell phone camera was too full too. (it’s the tiny picture below on the top right corner - 2nd one in) True to it’s name, it was quite d’lish.

Many years ago, before Steve and I were married, we went for a long drive along the I-90 corridor towards eastern Washington. It was a hot and dry day. So, we got off at a certain location, and tried to find a place to explore and walk around. Unfortunately, at the place that we chose, the crickets were jumping into my legs, which I painfully remember to this day. We left as quick as we came, and drove to the most unusual park. We couldn’t believe it. It looked like the Grand Canyon, with a blue pool of water, where people were water skiing and doing other water sports. It was beautiful, but so strikingly different from the rest of western Washington. The sad thing is, we both can’t remember where it is. It seems like a dream that we shared together. So, yesterday, we went for a drive to find it, but to no avail… The location remains a mystery. Anyone know of where I’m talking about?
A little dejected, we came back and gardened. I pulled some weeds and transplanted 3 Viburnum Davidii in one of my garden beds.
Whew - it looks so much better. Though, one still needs to be moved a tad bit. They’re also a little spotty looking. Hm… I hope they’re okay. Now, onto the other beds…
Okay, it’s my turn. Though I’m not as prolific of a writer as my sister is, I still need to make a peek-a-boo appearance from time to time. :)
So, I’m back from visiting Kansas City, Buffalo, and Toronto… Yup, cross-country in 9 days, and what a crazy, but blessed time it was. Currently, we have 3 exchange students that have come under our wing in various ways and I went with them to a retreat and a conference. We followed my parents, as my dad spoke at different places. We managed to squeeze in Niagara Falls, which made the whole trip an amazing experience… How blessed we were, even through some trying circumstances. By the end, we had grown into a family… Sigh - I love true fellowship….
Soon after I got back, I went with my hubby to Home Depot and got myself the Fiskars PowerGear Hedge Shears
and the Bronco D-handle fork.
I was so happy! :) Steve was surprised how quickly they put a smile on my face! Sigh - I love tools/gadgets… It’s a passion of mine. So, once I get my travels out of my system, I’ll go back to gardening. Yay - I’m so excited to use my new tools! Though I need to buy some compost - the weeds are creeping back up!
Oh, here’s Steve’s tip for today (since he wanted the credit) and overall one of our all-time favorites. If you have a loose screw screwed into a wooden background, like a door, unscrew the screw, put it off to the side, break up some toothpicks into the right size for the hole and stick them in the hole. Then, re-drill! Voila!
I’m back from our anniversary trip
, New York by far has to be one of my favorite cities to visit ^__^minus the humidity and dirt… there’s so much I want to share with you, but I’m still unpacking and getting settled in.
One recipe I’m working on for Mark is the Chicken Gyro you can get from the carts on every street corner. He ate it 3 times on the trip and asked me to learn how to make it. I think that was his favorite dish in NY. Once I perfect the recipe I’ll share with ya’ll.

I found this picture online, I have one of my own, but I’m too pooped to find it at the moment. I have a wedding I’m helping coordinate tomorrow and I’ve been out since 3pm helping prep ^__^I love helping people, it makes my days go by so much faster. I’ll be updating more often after the wedding has finished.
