bed and lamp

Our master bedroom is “urban” sized or smaller, so even though I dream of a bed and a little sitting area by a faux fireplace and a chandelier hanging on the side, I think the minimalist in Mark will have to be incorporated in our room.  Which is a total bonus because that means less for me  to clean ^__^

After researching a bit, I think just headboard would be easier (than a whole bed frame) to change the sheets and what not (yes, I’m very very low maintenance).   And after thinking long and hard, I decided my lofty dreams of having a girly room might be too much, even for myself :).  So maybe lighter colors will be my compromise…  I really like the following headboards from Target (my latest obsession because of my coworkers) because they look cushy and perfect for reading in bed, but can’t decide between the 8 or 5 button.  The 8 button has 60 reviews at 4 1/2 stars and the 5 button has 29 reviews at 4 stars  (both in oatmeal).  One thing I love about this shape is that it’s would be perfect for when I get bored of the color and want to throw a pretty piece of fabric over it and all I would need is a couple of safety pins to hold it together or I could even sew something together in a few minutes…  Something I’m worried about is the reviews said that the  oatmeal is darker than it appears on the Target site… since I like the color -as is- on the site, I might need to head over to a target and see if they have anything in “oatmeal” to check it out in person… I sort of like the clean look of the 5 button, but the reviews make me want to get the 8 button…  Mark said they look the same, do they?  I need opinions…:

I was looking at these for a while, but the comfort factor and if we moved, it looked like it would be a lot harder to move these in and out of the room, plus the one in the middle (that matches my lighter color scheme) has mini metal beads that look to difficult to clean…

Then there’s the lamps, from Ikea.  I really wanted a lamp where you just pull a cord to turn on and off, instead of fidgeting with the tiny knob when I’m half a sleep.   Here are my choices:

I like the one on the right better because the light appears more white verses yellowish and it’s also a bit sturdier looking…

This decorating thing is a lot harder than I thought it would be…

bedroom furniture

I’m super indecisive, so I have yet to furnish any of the rooms that others don’t see… so now that it’s been a year, I thought it was about time I got my act together and furnish our master bedroom :)  My problem is that I’m more girly and love shabby chic and Mark is more manly and minimalist.   He, being the greatest husband in the world, said I can do whatever to the bedroom as long as he has a desk in the room (and TV, but I’ve read so many studies about how TV is horrible for your REM cycle, which is very important to me… so maybe later?).

my inspirations:

These are my dream bedrooms, from Luphia loves

I love this one because it’s airy and fresh

I love the side table with the hydrangea’s, so dainty and beautiful

I just got a pitcher that looks similar to the one by the “fireplace” and on the dresser from Ikea :) it’s in the vase/garden section and only $20

are the chandeliers too much? :)

these ones are a slight compromise, so the room isn’t so girly…

I think this would be Mark’s dream rooms :)

and but I think our compromise will be mimicking Making it Lovely:

it combines, the masculine and feminine, so it’s not so one sided, but I think I’ll go a touch more girly and lighter colors :)
